Benefits of Weighing with Sliders on Racing Scales

As you might have learned on our “About us” page, the LABA7 team loves spending its free time at races. One thing you quickly pick up as an engineer at such events. That is how much of things still can be improved.

When we began designing LABA7 racing scales, we already knew sliders had to be part of the package.

Without Sliders

When scaling a vehicle without sliders, the tires scrub against the scale pads and hold the suspension in place. It means that the scales then measure not only vertical load but also the side forces caused by friction. This leads to corner weights that are not fully accurate. At least not accurate enough by LABA7 standards.

With Sliders

Sliders solve this problem. They allow the wheel to move on the pad, and the vehicle suspension gets into its normal position. Only then is the load measured correctly. In other words, when suspension finds its natural balance, the data becomes accurate and repeatable.

Benefits of Sliders

We first saw this difference in our tests, and later it was confirmed by many of our customers. With sliders, teams reported more consistent corner weights, less time spent rocking the car to settle it, and setups that matched the car’s real behavior on track. Workshops noticed reduced wear on both tires and scales since the sliding plates removed unnecessary scrub.

For cars with stiff suspensions, the improvement is even more significant. Small errors in corner weights can translate into major handling differences. Sliders ensure the numbers you see are the numbers you can trust.

Small Details, Big Wins

At LABA7, every piece of equipment is designed to deliver reliable measurements in real-world conditions. Our Racing Scales PRO already provides exceptional accuracy, but adding sliders takes performance even further. They bring extra precision, consistency, and efficiency to the setup process.

In racing, success is rarely the result of one big change. It comes from countless small details working together. And sliders are one of those details that can make the difference.
